Another day, another Antonio Brown rumor. Teams are bowing out and making it clear they aren't interested left and right, leaving only a handful of potentially interested teams. One of those teams is the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins are interested and have “maintained some contact” with the Steelers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. However, Rapoport does caution that Brown's salary would make it hard to work with Washington's cap situation. Still, though, it makes plenty of sense why the Redskins would be interested.

Ever since guys like Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson left, the Redskins have had a very inconsistent receiving corps. 2016 first-round pick Josh Doctson hasn't lived up to expectations and has been repeatedly injured since entering the league. Jamison Crowder is an impending free agent, and it's unclear if he'll be back with the team next year.

Paul Richardson signed a big contract with Washington last offseason, but his first year with the team was disappointing and ruined by injuries as well. Brown would provide a much-needed jolt to the Redskins' offense, but they might have bigger problems to sort out first.

Quarterback Alex Smith appears very unlikely to play in 2019, and may never play again. Washington still needs to figure out their quarterback situation for next year, and their offense should look entirely different. Jay Gruden will be coaching for his job in 2019, so it wouldn't be surprising if he's lobbying for Brown behind the scenes.

He needs all the pieces he can get to try and win now and save his job, and Brown would go a long way toward fixing his offense. Washington has been perhaps the most injury-plagued team in the league the past couple of seasons, and fans have become disillusioned with ownership and management. Trading for someone like Brown would immediately renew fan excitement and get people buzzing about the team again if nothing else.
