The Washington Redskins are already loaded at the running back position, but that won't stop them from adding someone else into the mix this offseason. According to ESPN's John Keim, Washington could target Kenyan Drake in NFL free agency.

Keim spoke on his podcast about the prospects of the Redskins adding a notable name in free agency. That led Keim to say that Drake could be a viable target for Washington if he were to hit the open market.

“One guy I think they could, and will pursue if he’s free, is Arizona running back Kenyan Drake,” Keim said via the John Keim report. “I had one league source tell me that’s what he thinks the Redskins will do based on the chatter that you hear. Drake would be a good fit; a back who could help both as a runner and as a receiver.”

Of course, as Keim noted, Drake's status in free agency is dependent on whether or not the Arizona Cardinals retain him. During the 2019 season, the Cardinals acquired Drake in a trade with the Miami Dolphins.

In his eight games in the desert, the Alabama product totaled 814 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns. Due to his production, it's likely that the Cardinals do everything they can to retain Drake.

At the same time, the Redskins could use a versatile weapon like Drake in the offense. However, Washington already has a backfield that features Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice, and Bryce Love.

Among those three options, Guice and Love have proven to have issues with injuries. Before making the assumption that Drake could land in D.C. this offseason, he has to hit free agency first.
