Despite being linked to UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball for months, the Los Angeles Lakers have not committed to drafting the hometown product quite yet. However, it now appears as if they are getting to that point as the 2017 NBA Draft inches closer and closer.

According to NBA insider Chad Ford, the Lakers are moving closer to settling on Ball with the second overall pick in the Draft.

It first appeared as if the Lakers were the clear-cut favorite to draft Ball, but after a workout in which he was reportedly “out of shape” coupled with conflicting reports about L.A.'s  actual interest in him, doubts started to settle in about whether or not Ball would be wearing purple and gold next season.

Ball's father LaVar even said his son would workout for lottery teams other than the Lakers, something he was firmly against before reports about the Lakers' having lukewarm interest.

The Lakers are still not firmly committed to Ball, however, as they also are eyeing Josh Jackson, Jayson Tatum and De'Aaron Fox with the second overall pick. And if they decide to trade the pick for Pacers' star Paul George, all bets are off on Ball becoming a Laker.

But as of right now, it appears more likely than not Ball will be a Laker next season.
