Despite the backlash over Colin Kaepernick's recently-released Nike ad, Houston Rockets stud Chris Paul is not afraid to let the world know how he feels about the controversial campaign.
Paul took to Twitter to publicly back the embattled Kaepernick and the powerful message behind his ad.
For those who are not familiar with the situation, Kaepernick is one of the most controversial athletes today. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has been known to sit or kneel during the pre-game ceremonial playing of the national anthem. His actions have turned out to be highly-polarizing, and many believe that this is the very reason why no team has had the courage to sign him ever since he became a free agent in 2017.
The message of his Nike ad implies that standing up for what you believe in (or kneeling down in Kaepernick's case) takes precedence above all else — even if it risks losing everything you have worked so hard for. This appears to be the exact situation Kaepernick is in right now, and based on his response, Chris Paul is 100 percent behind his co-athlete.
Not only did Paul commend Kaepernick for his courage, but the nine-time All-Star also exhibited his unison with his fellow African American by sending out the Black Power salute emoji.
Paul is not the only NBA star to show his support for Kaepernick as Los Angeles Lakers star, and Paul's close friend, LeBron James has also shared his solidarity with the besieged NFL athlete.
