After agreeing to a four-year, $76 million contract extension with the Houston Rockets, Eric Gordon has now set his sights on helping the team win.

One of the most valuable pieces of the Rockets' core over the past three years, Gordon has been one of the team's top perimeter shooters during that span. One of his goals heading into next season is to become one of the best 3-point shooters in the league, per his interview with The Athletic's Kelly Iko.

“I got a couple of goals for myself. But the No. 1 goal for sure, without a doubt, is to be one of the best 3-point shooters. I want to shoot at a very high clip this year. I would love to be in the 40s. I’ve done it before, and I just need to do it this year while staying consistent. I think for this year, for us to be really good, it’s all about being efficient. I think for me, for sure being the best 3-point marksman in the NBA and continuing being a creator.”

Last season, Eric Gordon averaged 16.2 points per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the field, including 36 percent from beyond the arc. He's only one of six players to hit at least 200 3-pointers in the past three seasons, joining the elite company of teammate James Harden, Golden State Warriors talents Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Boston Celtics guard Kemba Walker, and Portland Trail Blazers stud Damian Lillard.

If Gordon does end up shooting at least 40 percent from deep (something that he has only done once in his 11-year career), the Rockets will become an even more dangerous team.
