Houston Rockets superstar James Harden is well aware of the offseason power moves that have shaken the NBA. As such, the reigning Most Valuable Player isn't taking any days off even when he's supposed to be relaxing on vacation.
Harden had just posted a photo on Instagram with the caption “Stay woke.” As seen in the image, Houston's shooting guard is keeping himself busy in Europe doing the stuff that separates the men from the boys, the contenders from the pretenders.
The Rockets held the regular season's best record in 2017-18 and were essentially one Chris Paul injury away from the NBA finals. All seemed promising for a Rockets squad that had just re-upped Paul for four years, but the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors' acquisitions of LeBron James and DeMarcus Cousins, respectively, present a new threat to their title hopes.
Harden will have to work double this time as the team lost two of its defensive anchors in Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute via free agency. To worsen things, center Clint Capela's status with the team is still hanging in the balance after he rejected an $85 million offer by the Rockets.
Together with Capela and Paul, Harden completed a vaunted triumvirate for Houston that proved to be virtually unstoppable whenever all of them are active.
The grind never stops for The Beard and this type of work ethic puts him in a solid position to pick up where he left off, individually, when the upcoming season tips off.
