Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni believes shooting guard Eric Gordon is “one of the better defenders in the league.”

Everyone knows what Gordon can do on offense. He's a sniper from beyond the arc who can also get to the rim at will and finish in heavy traffic.

D’Antoni, though, says everyone always overlooks what Gordon does on the defensive side of the ball for the Rockets.

“Well, Eric is one of the better defenders in the league, without a doubt,” D’Antoni said, via Kelly Iko of The Athletic. “Nobody ever talks about it, because he’s pretty understated, but he’s so strong. Nobody can post him up. He puts his chest on people and keeps them out of the lane. He’s just really good at what he does.

“Eric is a very good defender and he’s probably underrated both sides of the ball.”

The Rockets have been putting Gordon on Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell and the results have been very good for Houston.

Mitchell is shooting just 32.4 percent from the field and 26.7 percent from beyond the arc through the first two games of the series. Gordon is the main reason why. The Indiana native has been using his 6-foot-4 frame to make things difficult for Mitchell at every turn.

It's been really fun to watch Gordon flourish with the Rockets after all the knee injuries he dealt with earlier in his career with the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans.
