With the game already way out of reach, Chris Paul helped the Houston Rockets put the kibosh on the Los Angeles Clippers before the final 12 minutes of action Wednesday night.

CP3 banked in a deep shot from beyond half court that put the Rockets up 102-71 with 0.7 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

This was just one of the five 3s that Paul drained against his former team. He also added 29 points, seven assists, and four rebounds in the 135-103 victory.

The Rockets are leering at a possible first-round series against the Clippers in the coming weeks — a matchup that Houston players like Paul and Austin Rivers would bring their balling boots for.

When asked about the potential playoff clash, Rivers didn’t hold anything back on the extra motivation that would swell.

Would Paul bring a similar attitude?

“Absolutely, you could see it tonight in the way he played,” Rivers said of Paul, per ESPN’s Tim Macmahon.

“You play your former team, that's what you do. It would make it even more competitive. And they're a good team. They would come at us, because a lot of their guys played over here. So it would be a fun series.”

The Rockets are currently 1½ games behind the two seed that they would like to acquire in the Western Conference playoffs.

Doc Rivers and the Clippers slid to 47-32 with the loss, but remain in the sixth spot.

If that holds in the final stretch of games this season, it’s possible we could see a reunion in a playoff setting.
