Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook has been making a considerable amount of noise of late with regards to the social issues that have gripped the nation. Recently, the former MVP winner provided some advice for people — especially the kids — who have decided to fight for what they believe in.

According to Westbrook, one of the most important things the youth need to understand right now is that the problem of social injustice is not going to be resolved overnight.

This is a timely reminder from Westbrook, who himself has been a strong advocate of racial equality. This is a problem that has plagued the nation for centuries, so Westbrook is making sure that kids, most especially, are able to appreciate the fact that this is going to be a long and grueling fight ahead. Their steadfastness and faithfulness to the cause is of utmost importance, especially when things seem to be at their most difficult.

Westbrook may be speaking to his own kids here. While his three children might be too young to fully appreciate the issues at hand, it appears that Westbrook wants his own kids to imbibe this same mentality as early as now. The Rockets guard also said that he does not want his children to grow up fearing the police, so you can tell that at this point, everything Westbrook is doing is in part to be able to provide a better tomorrow for his own kids.
