There has been a lot of smoke regarding Boston Celtics star point guard Kyrie Irving going to the Brooklyn Nets this summer, and the rumor mill was churning again on Thursday.
It all started with this:
Firsthand source says that Kyrie Irving was hanging out at the 40/40 club with Brooklyn Nets players last night. https://t.co/om1HvFXXhE

I’m told that Kyrie Irving was indeed at the 40/40 club with a few Brooklyn Nets players last night, including Caris LeVert, Jared Dudley, Theo Pinson and Alan Williams. #Nets

However, the idea that Kyrie Irving was actually hanging out with the Nets players was refuted by others, though they apparently were all at the same club:
Kyrie Irving did not hang out with Brooklyn Nets players last night at 40/40 club, league sources told The Athletic.

Source close to the situation confirms that Kyrie Irving and several Brooklyn Nets players were all at the 40/40 club last night, but they weren't together. Each group had their own private room, hence the confusion.

Whatever the case, the internet will surely run with this given all the rumors surrounding Irving's potential move from Boston to Brooklyn. Reports of Irving wanting to leave Boston have been surfacing since late last calendar year, and now most people believe he'll be leaving.
The potential addition of Irving could add a star alongside starting point guard D'Angelo Russell (if he sticks around) and a solid core of players like Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen.
The Nets surprised many this past season by earning the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference. Their playoff tenure was short-lived, though, as they lost their first-round series to the Philadelphia 76ers in five games.
There are still many factors that could go into Irving's offseason decision, including whether or not the Celtics can acquire the MVP-caliber Anthony Davis in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans.
New York could also intrigue Kyrie Irving with a potential pair-up with Kevin Durant.
NBA free agency begins June 30, but players cannot sign contracts with teams until July 6.
