The New Orleans Saints are considered to be frontrunners to win the NFC South next season, but a former NFL wide receiver doesn't share that opinion. While making an appearance on ESPN's First Take, Brandon Marshall made some telling comments about New Orleans' championship window.

“Their window is closed, their window is closed,” Marshall insisted. “Their window is closed, I’m sorry. Did you see what happened to their defense last year? Do you see that everyone in the league has the book on New Orleans’ offense now? Did you see that? It’s over, it’s a wrap.”

Marshall, who had a brief stint with the Saints in 2018, was once catching passes from Drew Brees in practice. Now, the former wideout doesn't believe Brees and the Saints have what it takes to reach the Super Bowl in 2020.

Over the past three seasons, New Orleans has reigned supreme in the NFC South, winning the division in all three seasons. Despite their dominance in the division, the Saints have been unable to get over the hump in the postseason.

In just the past two seasons, New Orleans has been eliminated in the postseason in heartbreaking fashion. Nevertheless, they are returning most of their starters, along with adding Emmanuel Sanders and Malcolm Jenkins in free agency.

On the other hand, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers landed Tom Brady in free agency, giving them another team to compete with for the NFC South title. If Brees remains healthy, it's hard to envision New Orleans not being a contender in the NFC.

But for Marshall, he believes that the window to win with Brees under center is locked shut.
