The New Orleans Saints‘ quarterback carousel is set to take another turn on Monday when rookie gunslinger Ian Book will make his first career start. Book is in for somewhat of a Christmas miracle, getting his first taste of NFL action on Dec. 26. When asked about finding out that he'd be the Saints starting QB, Book had an amazing reply, via Katherine Terrell.

You'd figure someone with the last name of Book would be a whiz kid with numbers, and that seems to be the case for the Saints QB. Book told reporters that he used the process of elimination in order to determine he'd be the starting quarterback on Monday. With Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian on the shelf for Monday's matchup, the last man standing at the position was Book, so naturally he will assume the starting position.

The Saints did sign Blake Bortles as a veteran backup option for Book, but committed to the Notre Dame standout as the team's starting quarterback.

Monday's matchup doesn't figure to be easy for Book and the Saints, who will face off against a scorching hot Miami Dolphins team that has won its past six games. The Saints are dealing with a handful of players sidelined by COVID-19, having added four players to the COVID list on Friday, including star offensive lineman Ryan Ramczyk.

Book was the Saints' fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, having been selected with the 133rd overall pick. He has yet to feature in an NFL game, so Monday will be his first taste of the big show.
