The result of the NFC Championship Game between the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams is still fresh in the minds of many fans, but for the Saints' general manager, it’s just another reminder that sometimes life isn’t fair.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis found himself in Mobile, Alabama this week, partaking in this year's Senior Bowl in an effort to take his mind off of the disastrous end of the Saints’ 2018 season. Speaking to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, Loomis said that he’s had a couple of “sleepless nights” since the game ended, mostly due to the now infamous no-call of a blatant defensive pass interference call.

“That's why I'm here. I had to get over here for my mental state,” Loomis said when asked about how he’s processing the Saint’s loss.

According to Loomis, he hasn’t heard from the NFL since the league’s head of officials, Alberto Riveron, admitted that the referees missed the call, but he isn’t trying to harp on it too much.

After noting that the call “is what it is,” Loomis said that he would be deferring to Saints owner Gayle Benson on the matter, in which she promised to pursue changes to the NFL policy in an effort to make sure no other teams are ever put through a similar scenario.

Speaking to the fans and their pain, Loomis acknowledged it, but also noted that this gets put into the “unfair” category of life. “So I understand the hurt. This goes under the category of, ‘Life's not fair.'”

While nothing regarding the game is likely to be changed, it does seem highly likely now that new rules will be put into place for the upcoming NFL season to make sure nothing like this will happen again. Unfortunately for the Saints and their fans, they’ll have to live with being the example of this new rule.
