The Oklahoma City Thunder have made it quite clear that Russell Westbrook‘s long-term future is the organization's No.1 priority this offseason as he holds the potential to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

This has led general manager Sam Presti to offer Westbrook a super max contract extension that would top the four-year,$228 million deal that the Houston Rockets agreed upon with James Harden over this past weekend.

According to Royce Young of ESPN, Presti and the Thunder are now waiting on Westbrook's response to the lucrative deal that was recently presented to him.

The fact that the 27-year-old hasn't immediately inked the deal does draw some concern from Oklahoma City as it brings more weight to the scenario that he could leave next summer.  The addition of Paul George could be a huge step in the right direction, but it also may have given Westbrook some pause on his standing with the organization as that pairing could head in one of two directions.

The duo could have a tremendous level of success alongside each other that leads to possibly reaching the Western Conference Finals or possibly further, or it could head south with the two struggling to coexist with each other on the court ultimately pushing George signs elsewhere next offseason.

Until Westbrook signs on the dotted line for the extension, the Thunder are going to have to just simply wait and see what the reigning league MVP decides to do.
