As the 2021 NFL season approaches, could there be an opportunity for Richard Sherman to reunite with the Seattle Seahawks? Several reports have come out about the veteran cornerback possibly making his return to the organization. In the midst of rumors surrounding the NFL world, Sherman has continued to test his free agency with possible destinations for his next chapter.

According to Brady Henderson of ESPN, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has been in communication with Sherman recently. However, he conversations did not seem to go far as the Seahawks have denied a possible reunion with Sherman. Carroll stated that Seattle wanted to keep their options open by finding another CB for their roster.

In the NFL Draft, the Seahawks selected CB Tre Brown from the University of Oklahoma, which put some writing on the wall about any Sherman-Seahawks reunion.

“That’s not one of our thoughts right now that we’re going out and getting another guy at that spot, but we’re going to keep looking,” Carroll said Saturday, after the Seahawks took Oklahoma CB Tre Brown with one of their three draft picks. “We’re not going to stop looking and we’re going to compete. So in that sense, I leave everything open and that’s just one of them.”

Before Sherman made the transition to the San Francisco 49ers, he played seven seasons with the Seahawks and made huge contributors during his tenure. Sherman was a participant in three Pro Bowls during his time and became a Super Bowl champion in 2014. Sherman began to see a lot of recognition in 2013 when he became NFL interceptions leader on the season.

In an interview with Stephen A. Smith, Sherman has shown interest in signing with Seattle, San Francisco, New Orleans Saints, and the Las Vegas Raiders. Sherman spent three seasons in San Francisco before his contract expired this past season. At 33 years of age, Sherman still believes that he can contribute to a championship contender with his experience and leadership.
