Seth Curry's Wife: Callie Rivers

Two of the most prestigious NBA families, the Curry and Rivers clans, have famously been joined together by the union of two of their members: Seth Curry and Callie Rivers. Most of us know all about the the NBA stars of the family, but let's get to know Seth Curry's wife Callie Rivers and how their relationship blossomed.

Seth Curry's Wife: Callie Rivers

Seth Curry's wife Callie Rivers may be surrounded by star basketball players from both sides of the family, but she's no slouch athletically herself. She was blessed with terrific genetics given that her father and Seth's current head coach Doc Rivers was a longtime NBA player. Callie stands at a towering 5-foot-11, which allowed her to excel in the sport of volleyball. She was a multi-titled state champion back in high school, which led to a successful stint playing for the University of Florida Gators from 2007-2010.

As a freshman, Rivers started in her first 19 matches, setting multiple school records and culminating with being named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. She finished up her college volleyball career as an All-American Honorable Mention in her senior year. She ventured to turn her love for volleyball in a professional career, going pro after signing with Leonas de Ponce, which was a club in the Puerto Rican Liga de Voleibol Superior Femenino.

But Seth Curry's wife played just one year as a professional volleyball player before opting to retire early. She has since maintained a very active social media presence with multiple followers on most platforms.

While it isn't explicitly known when Seth Curry and his future wife Callie Rivers sparked a flame between one another, they probably made contact many years earlier as their two famous families have been intertwined for decades.

Both of their fathers, Dell Curry and Doc Rivers, were longtime NBA stars with overlapping stints in the association. The Curry patriarch spent 16 seasons in the league from 1986 to 2002. Doc, meanwhile, played 13 seasons from 1983 to 1996, earning himself an All-Star selection in his fifth season playing for the Atlanta Hawks.

“The Currys are a great family,” Doc Rivers said of the relationship between families in a feature by The Undefeated. “I’ve known Dell and Sonya for 100 years. It’s very natural. Two good families, so it’s pretty cool. Dell and I don’t really talk about it. We played in a golf tournament together. We’ve always kind of been tight. It’s been a really natural union.”

Despite never playing on the same team, both NBA guards produced some impressive hooping offspring. Stephen Curry has very clearly turned into one of the brightest stars of his generation. His brother Seth and Austin Rivers not only grew up as similar prospects around the same time, they also ended up playing alongside one another as teammates at Duke University, which is probably where Seth Curry got a lot of face time with future wife Callie Rivers.

Callie's brother Austin Rivers was candid when he found out about her sister dating his ex-teammate Seth Curry, which is very telling of his perception of the sharpshooter.

“When you hear your sister is dating an NBA player, you’re like, ‘Oh s—,’ ” Austin Rivers said. “NBA players travel a lot. There is a reputation. You don’t want your sister to get hurt. But when I heard it was Seth, I was relieved because he is one of the guys that act the right way.”

Seth Curry and his wife Callie got engaged on Valentine's Day 2019 at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Charlotte. They were eventually married in September of the same year, in a wonderful ceremony in Malibu. It was Seth's father-in-law Doc who apparently footed the bill for the well-attended event.

“I couldn’t be happier,” said Doc Rivers, who also said he has no problem paying for the wedding. “He’s such a gentleman. As a father, that is all you want. He just called me and asked like normal people. I always tell people, ‘We’re all normal people at the end of the day.’ I told him, ‘Great, and absolutely.’ But I think he knew I’d say that. …

The two also have a gorgeous daughter named Carter Lynn Curry, who was born on May 9, 2018 and has been a bundle of joy for the couple ever since.
