With the Brooklyn Nets adding Blake Griffin to the star-studded roster this past Monday, the Nets are definitely the favorites to establish themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference. If the Philadelphia 76ers want to maintain their current position at the 1st seed, they will have to make some roster changes if they want to compete against Griffin, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden.

The Sixers are interested in acquiring Will Barton from the Denver Nuggets, according to Jason Dumas of Bleacher Report, but will that be enough to come out on top if they were to play a team such as the Nets in the playoffs?

The Sixers have their eyes on Barton for a good reason, as he has been a great role player for the Nuggets these past few seasons. Averaging 15.1 points last season with great efficiency from the field, especially beyond the arc, Barton would make a great addition to the Sixers. Though his numbers are down this season, he would serve as an offensive threat, especially when playing alongside Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Tobias Harris.

The Sixers have experienced nothing but disappointment these past few postseasons, as Kawhi Leonard's game-winner still haunts the team to this day. However, if they want to truly be considered as a title-contending team, they need one more weapon to give them the confidence and resources to go all the way. Time will tell if the potential acquisition of Barton will be the answer to competing against these super teams. The Sixers undoubtedly have the heart and are fearless competitors, but they can't afford to fall short this postseason.
