At least one Philadelphia 76ers icon is showing some love for the embattled Ben Simmons. After a summer that has been characterized by a lot of drama over a botched trade, Simmons is now back with the team ahead of Tuesday's season tip-off. Sixers legend Allen Iverson sent out a strong message of support for the controversial point guard as Simmons looks to resurrect his career in Philly.

Iverson took to Twitter to give some encouragement for Ben Simmons:

“Follow Gods plan and execute Lil bro,” AI wrote.

It goes without saying that Ben Simmons isn't the most well-loved figure in Philadelphia right now. Some might say all the animosity from Sixers fans is rather warranted after the All-Star point guard tried (and failed) to force a move away from the team.

Instead of criticizing Simmons for his actions during the offseason, Iverson is taking a different approach here. AI is widely considered as one of the greatest and most respected players in franchise history so it will be interesting to see if he is able to sway some supporters here with his message of support for Ben Simmons.

The most important thing right now is that Simmons is still a Sixer. Well, at least for now.
