Philadelphia 76ers All-Stars Ben Simmons and Al Horford will sit out on Tuesday when the Sixers host the Detroit Pistons.

Simmons has some back tightness, while Horford is sidelined for rest.

Simmons signed a five-year, $170 million maximum rookie contract extension with the Sixers this summer. Last season, the talented lefty averaged 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists while shooting 56.3 percent from the field. He also recorded 42 double-doubles and 10 triple-doubles.

The back tightness doesn't appear to be that much of a concern for Philly.

Horford reached a four-year, $109 million deal with the Sixers this offseason, ending his three-year run with the Boston Celtics. The veteran put up 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season with Boston while shooting 53.5 percent from the floor, 36.0 percent from the 3-point line and 82.1 percent from the charity stripe.

The Sixers now have four elite defenders in Horford, Simmons, Joel Embiid and Josh Richardson. Philly acquired Richardson from the Miami Heat in the Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade deal.

Most pundits have Philly meeting the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals. For the Sixers to win the title in 2019-20, Simmons will have to show his perimeter game. The former No. 1 overall pick finally made his first NBA 3-pointer, although it was in a preseason game against a non-NBA team.
