Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons has expressed support for his teammate Joel Embiid following their 92-90 loss to the Toronto Raptors in Game 7 of their second round playoff series.

During his postgame presser, Simmons said that he and his teammates are behind Embiid. JoJo notably cried after the defeat, with videos circulating online showing him in tears as he heads to the locker room.

“We always got his back. We're a family… That's my brother, so I'm always here for him, but we've got to get better at the end of the day… He's a competitor. He loves to compete. He wants to win. That's what you want to see in a guy like that,” Simmons said, per Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

Kawhi Leonard ended the Sixers' title aspirations this season after he made a high-arching corner jumper over Embiid in Game 7. Leonard's shot bounced four times before going into the hoop.

Just 4.2 seconds earlier, Philadelphia shooting guard Jimmy Butler banked a driving layup to tie the game at 90 apiece. This set the stage for Leonard's game-winning shot — perhaps the biggest in Raptors franchise history. Kawhi finished with a game-high 41 points.

Embiid had a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds for Philly. The All-Star center got off to a slow start, making just two of his first 10 attempts from the floor. He finished with a 6-of-18 shooting clip.

As for Simmons, he became more aggressive as the series against the Raptors wore on. After a forgettable seven-point performance in a 36-point blowout loss in Game 5, he had a combined 34 points in the final two games.

While the ball didn't bounce the Sixers' way, there's no reason for them — especially Embiid — to hang their heads low. After missing the playoffs for five consecutive years, they won at least 51 games in each of the past two seasons.

The future looks bright in Philadelphia. The Sixers have a solid core in Embiid and Simmons. If they can retain Jimmy Butler, re-sign unrestricted free agents Tobias Harris and J.J. Redick and add a few key pieces, they should return with a vengeance in 2019-20.
