Charles Barkley joined the set of ESPN's Get Up on Tuesday morning. Amid his wide-ranging interview, The Round Mound of Rebound, as he was once known, had some interesting thoughts about the weight of Sixers big man Joel Embiid.

Barkley, who was drafted by Sixers with the 5th overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft, thinks Embiid needs to lose some weight:

“Joel Embiid has got to get his fat butt in shape and Ben Simmons got to work on his game,” Barkley said during his appearance on ESPN.

Barkley's shaming of Embiid's weight comes as a bit of a surprise. Sure, Embiid tips the scales at 250 pounds, but he's also 7-2. Still, Barkley does know a thing or two about losing weight, and it sounds like he means well.

Just keep in mind that Barkley was 6-6 and 284 pounds during his stint with the Auburn Tigers. Now, though, after sponsoring the Weight Watchers program then later leaving it, he's down to 250.

Bigger players often have injury problems throughout their playing careers. Embiid has been fairly healthy thus far, but he did have a left knee issue during the playoffs.

The Sixers finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 51-31 overall record, which earned the team a No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Unfortunately, though, Philly was defeated by the Toronto Raptors in the second round, 4-3.

Weight loss or not, Embiid and the Sixers will likely be looking to make another run in the coming season.
