JJ Redick has played for five different teams over his 14-year NBA career. However, for the veteran sharpshooter, one past destination has separated itself from the rest. In an interview with The Athletic's ‘Sixers Beat' podcast, Redick spoke very highly of Philadelphia as a sports town and what makes it different than the other cities he has played in.

“I’ve said this before, it’s not a knock on New Orleans — but I would have loved to have been back and finished my career in Philly,” Redick said. “I’ve never played for an NBA team that had a crowd like (Philly),” said Redick, who later in the interview added, “I’ll remember that, for sure.”

Redick played two seasons with the Sixers before signing a two-year, 26.5 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2019 offseason.

Redick was a consistent fan-favorite in Philly. In two years with the Sixers, he averaged 17.6 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from deep.

“You know when you sign up to play in Philly that there’s gonna be a certain amount of attention,” Redick said. “Fans are very willing to give their opinion on things, so there’s that. You know all that going in. It’s part of the experience. I’ll take that over apathetic fans any day of the week.”

Redick, 35, has seen his numbers drop a bit in his first season in New Orleans after coming from the Sixers, but the 6-foot-3 shooting guard has managed to stay a consistent scorer and one of the best three-point shooters in the league.
