The Philadelphia 76ers were able to win against the Atlanta Hawks. Center Joel Embiid managed to make history for the Sixers in the process.

According to ESPN Skas & Info., Embiid's 49 points are the most since Allen Iverson was still playing while also becoming the first to pair it with more than 10 rebounds after Hall of Famer Moses Malone did it in 1984:

The Sixers were coming off a tough loss to the Milwaukee Bucks the game before. Fortunately, Embiid found a way to bounce back and lead his team to a solid 129-112 victory.

It is safe to say that Joel Embiid was a man on a mission after going 17-of-24 from the field and sinking all but one of his 15 free-throw attempts on the evening. He also tacked don 14 rebounds, three assists and was a force on the defensive end as well with three steals and a block. Meanwhile, the Hawks simply had no answer for him after he was able to get big man Dewayne Dedmon in foul trouble and take advantage o a thin Hawks frontcourt.

These types of historic performances help to solidify Joel Embiid's case as one of the most dominant big men in the NBA today. He is going to need to keep hot going on a nightly basis if he hopes to land the Sixers some more favorable seeding once the postseason rolls around. They currently find themselves just a half game behind the Miami Heat for a spot on the upper half of the playoff bracket.
