It has been quite some time since Philadelphia 76ers point guard Markelle Fultz was last active for a basketball game, but he seems to be getting that much closer to making a return to the court soon.

“Slowly we will start integrating him into this,” Sixers head coach Brett Brown recently said. “But the answer everybody probably wants to hear is when [will he play]. I just don’t know that.”

According to an article published today by Sixers beat writer Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Fultz has joined the team on its road trip and will participate in drills during practice.

Markelle Fultz, who was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, has not played in a game for the Sixers since an Oct. 23 road win against the Detroit Pistons. However, as Brown said, an exact return date after Fultz joins team drills is still up in the air.

“It’s breakdown stuff,” Brown said. “We’ll continue to do those types of things. When the time comes, where we can say honestly to you guys, like ‘Markelle Fultz is now 5-on-5’ we’ll tell you that. Right now, we can’t.”

The 19-year-old guard is still recovering from a shoulder injury that has sidelined him for all but four contests this season, as Fultz is only averaging 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
