The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to pursue Terrence Ross in free agency, according to Michael Kaskey-Blomain of 97.3 ESPN Radio. Ross is part of the contingency plan the Sixers will put in place for this summer, hoping to expand their options at the wing.

Philly has been looking for dire help with shooting at the wing position, as they're currently in a sketchy place with a dilemma of signing either Jimmy Butler of Tobias Harris, all while they hope to keep veteran sniper J.J. Redick, who is coming off back-to-back one-year deals.

The Sixers want to re-sign Redick, but it's likely that the marksman is hoping the team can commit long-term, considering he's 35 years old and an elite commodity that shouldn't see his skill diminish as he ages.

Redick has shot 40% or better from deep in six of his 13 seasons, including four of the last five. The sharpshooter put up a career-high 18.1 points per game last season and posted career-bests in field goals made (5.9), 3-pointers made (3.2) and free throws made (3.0) per game.

Ross, who enjoyed his best season in the league in 2018-19, has similar capabilities to scorch from deep, averaging 15.1 points and 2.7 made threes per game on 38.3% efficiency.

Besides his shooting, Ross is a wiry-strong 6-foot-7 and 205 pounds, capable of keeping up with both guards on defense, as well as his natural small forward position.

The Washington product appeared in 81 games last season, all from the bench as the Orlando Magic's sixth man. While he isn't the elite-caliber shooter Redick has proven to be, he is only 28 years old and a capable defender, giving the Sixers a much-needed three-and-D presence, should they make a pact with him in the offseason.
