As big of a rivalry as some players have on the court, a lot of them share friendly moments outside of the game too. This may never be as true as during the NBA All-Star Weekend when a single city hosts hundreds of NBA players that together participate in community events, media availability, entertaining basketball activities, and the storied All-Star game.

Big men and Team Stephen Curry teammates Joel Embiid and Al Horford used their time on the bench to discuss the NBA and the history of the game. In a video by Bleacher Report, Embiid and Horford are spotted on the All-Star game bench talking about the greatest player of all time.

It all started when Embiid asked Horford, “Do you think MJ (Michael Jordan) is the best player ever?” The Celtics' big man nodded. The Cameroonian also had other options in mind. Embiid told Horford:

“I didn't get to watch him, but I mean, when I look at his numbers and all that, like Wilt [Chamberlain]. I don't know why everybody's always saying he played against short people, but looking at his videos and stuff, he was so freaking athletic. He would've been able to play in any era, like jump over anybody.”

Horford appeared to like Embiid being so appreciative of the game. But the Sixers big man was not done with the discussion: “But I don't know, it comes down to championships too. And then if it comes down to championships, Bill Russell has gotta be the GOAT.” Horford added, “Yeah, or Kareem too,” and Embiid nodded.

Embiid has said before he is a student of the game and likes to research. One would not usually think these are the type of conversations NBA players often have, especially in the middle of a game, but it sure is nice to see players know who came before them and acknowledge their impact on today's game.

Embiid is averaging 23.7 points and 11.1 rebounds this season.
