The NBA has taken strict measures to ensure player safety over the years by cracking down on extremely physical play and excessive contact.

Officials are now quick to blow the whistle and warrant a Flagrant 2 foul — even on some questionable calls that appear like regular fouls to some.

Such was the case in the Atlanta Hawks versus Philadelphia 76ers match on Monday, when Mike Scott was ejected after colliding with Damion Jones on a fast break.

Replays showed that Scott did hit Jones with a chest bump in an effort to stop him from scoring. The contact didn’t seem too hard, as Jones was able to stay on his feet after the collision.

Referees deemed the foul too excessive and Mike Scott was thrown out of the game shortly after. The Sixers were the ones who took a hit, as they lost one of their key bench players in the first half of a tight ball game.
