The South Carolina Gamecocks are your NCAA Women's Championship winners! After a hard-fought campaign, the team finally avenged their 2021 season with a scintillating rout of the University of Connecticut Huskies 64 – 49. Their successful campaign is thanks in large part to superstar forward Aliyah Boston.

Aliyah Boston has been on an insane tear during this March Madness run. The South Carolina star averaged 16.8 points and 15.2 rebounds per contest in the tournament. That made her the first player in a championship team to average over 15 points and rebounds per contest in NCAA Women's tournament history. (via ESPN Stats and Info)

It was a back and forth affair at first, but the Gamecocks managed to grab a firm lead against the Huskies during the course of the game. However, Connecticut wasn't deterred, and they tried to lead a comeback attempt off the back of Paige Bueckers. However, Boston's consistency (and Destanni Henderson's career-high night) was too much to overcome for the team.

This is a huge moment for Dawn Staley's squad, who suffered a heartbreaking end to their 2021 season last year. Matched up against a fellow top seed in Stanford, Boston and the team couldn't hold on, losing by just one point in the Final Four game. This year, with the Huskies eliminating the Cardinal, it was time for the Gamecocks to strut their stuff.

Carolina has another chance of bagging two NCAA tournament trophies tomorrow night. The UNC Tar Heels, fresh off of a clutch victory over their rivals Duke, has a chance of completing their Cinderella run against the Kansas Jayhawks tomorrow. It will be a hard battle, but Hubert Davis' squad has been through worse.
