Spain's Juan Carlos Navarro is keeping faith, and keeping notice.

Navarro, a veteran of Spanish basketball, doesn't see why his country won't be able to have a chance at upsetting Team USA today in the semifinals of the Rio Olympics.

Team USA has played three really close games and after losing the first two, Spain has looked as good as any team in the tournament, including the United States.

Navarro via Eurohoops.net:

“There have been other teams in this tournament which have been very close to beat them, so why not us? We have come here to try to win and if we play our cards right and we are ready, why not…”

The “Why not us?” mentality seems like a good one to take into this game for Spain. In the past, countries have walked into games with Team USA already defeated mentally.

Talent will always favor the U.S. but experience in international competition is on Spain's side this time.

“We were pretty close and this year we have more experience and more everything else, so why not,” Navarro said. “When you give them the open court, they have wings and they can easily take the lead. It will be difficult to come back after trailing by a big different, but if we are there until the end, we can seize our chance”

It will be interesting to see if Spain's got what it takes to upset Team USA today.
