DeMar DeRozan of the San Antonio Spurs was recently featured on Bleacher Report’s Take It There with Taylor Rooks, and he dropped an interesting tidbit about his musical endeavors.
As you can see, DeRozan has, in fact, dabbled in the world of hip-hop, so much so that his rapper friends – including Kendrick Lamar and Drake – have both listened to and approved of DeRozan’s music.
DeRozan, who has been open about his struggles with depression and anxiety, seemed uninterested in releasing his music to the masses when gently pushed by Rooks, though he did take her ribbing in stride.
DeRozan seems like a shy and introverted individual despite being a multiple-time NBA All-Star and one of the best player in Toronto Raptors franchise history. Of course, that loyalty to his team was rewarded with a disenchanting trade that sent DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs for the Kawhi Leonard.
The brutal irony, of course, is that DeRozan was perhaps the most well-known current Raptor, but he was traded for a player that was able to take Toronto to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history – something that DeRozan was never able to do.
Certainly, the irony is not lost on DeRozan, and now that we know he is a rapper, perhaps he can use those emotions and feelings surrounding seeing his former team in the NBA Finals without him in one of his future songs.
Perhaps Kendrick and Drake can collaborate!
