San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich does not like a lot of things. He doesn’t like a lack of defensive effort from his players, in-game interviews, and the sitting president of the United States, to name just three things.

As it turns out, Pop also doesn’t like the long-standing tradition of people going to Times Square and watching the ball drop during the New Year’s Eve countdown. The Spurs coach detests it so much that he says no one can pay him enough money to celebrate New Year’s there.

Gregg Popovich may come across as a curmudgeon most of the time, but much like his feelings on the POTUS, he’s likely not alone in his dislike of going to Times Square for New Year.

While the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration may be a popular holiday tradition and is regularly attended by thousands of people, the thought of squeezing into Times Square in the biting cold while waiting for a shiny ball to drop might not be too appealing to a good number of the population.

Gregg Popovich is nothing if not a smart person, and it's definitely the smart take to believe celebrating the New Year in Times Square is just not a good way to do it.
