As the San Antonio Spurs await Kawhi Leonard's impending return, head coach Gregg Popovich remains noncommittal about his return, recently admitting he's unaware on when he'll come back.

“I have no idea,” said Popovich when asked about his star forward, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. “He is not practicing with us.”

Leonard was anticipated to return this week, first against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, and later against the New Orleans Pelicans — both return dates which were quickly shut down by the team.

Sources close to the 26-year-old had said he had been ramping up activity in hopes to make a speedy return, but the terms still remain in his very own comfort level, having been cleared by several doctors to return.

The team is soon approaching the end of the line and no longer holding onto third place in the West, but fighting for their playoff life for the first time in 21 seasons.

“We have what 14, games left?” veteran point guard Tony Parker said after shootaround. “So it's getting closer and closer that at some point it makes no sense (to bring him back). He didn't play for like two or three months. He didn't play for eight months, technically.”

The Spurs have been told to play as if he isn't coming back, but that has proven a task much more difficult to achieve, having won only three of their last 10 games and lingering in the outside looking in, with a tiebreaker loss to the red-hot Utah Jazz.
