The wait may finally be over.

Sources told Jabari Young of the San Antonio Express-News that San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard could make his season debut Friday.

According to sources, Leonard participate in a final workout session Thursday. The team will re-evaluate Leonard on Friday. If all goes well, and Leonard feels OK, the two-time Defensive Player of the Year will travel with the team to Phoenix after Friday’s game against Boston to play in the second game of a back-to-back.

Leonard has not played for the entire 2017-18 season with right quadricep tendinopathy, which is basically inflammation of the right quad. Throughout the time he's had the injury, there's been much confusion over why it's kept him out as long as it has.

But the Spurs have endured without Leonard so far this year. They currently sit third in the Western Conference at 17-8, a record that seemed practically impossible without their star player.

But now, Leonard may be back as early as Friday. He'll probably be plenty rusty and will need time to get back into game shape.

But one thing is for sure: Once Leonard gets right, the Spurs will be a huge force to be reckoned with in the NBA.
