When it comes to Lonzo Ball, the San Antonio Spurs’ interest in him seems to be comparable to the level of attention the public is giving to LaVar Ball’s JBA league.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in determined pursuit of Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard, but convincing San Antonio to give up the talented swingman is not going to come cheap for Magic Johnson and company. The idea of inserting Lonzo Ball into the package won’t help the Lakers’ chances either, according to Tim Bontemps of The Washington Post.

The question now is whether the Lakers even have enough to convince the San Antonio Spurs to send Leonard there. With San Antonio believed to be uninterested in Lonzo Ball, the Lakers have three other intriguing young players — Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart — plus their future first-round picks to include in a deal.

It has been reported earlier that the Lakers have an offer they think San Antonio will find hard to refuse, which is a trade package involving Brandon Ingram and a future first-round pick. However, the Boston Celtics are also believed to be the ideal trade partner of the Spurs, leaving the Lakers in a bind. Los Angeles is in some sort of race against time, as the franchise’s odds of landing LeBron James seem to be largely dependent on whether the Lakers could land Leonard in a trade.

Lonzo Ball is a decent player and still is developing, but the Spurs’ lukewarm attitude towards the former UCLA Bruins point guard is likely due to their aversion towards having a further distraction that Ball and his family could bring to San Antonio.
