Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers got what they wanted in terms of a rematch with the Jacksonville Jaguars. But for the second time this season, the Jaguars defense proved to be the difference as they came out on top in what turned out to be a high-scoring affair.

Although Roethlisberger enjoyed a spectacular outing against the best defense in the league, the Jacksonville offense managed to do their part by scoring when they needed to. As a result, Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree felt the defense had failed to do its job down the stretch, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler:

“We have Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback,” Dupree said. “We’re supposed to make a stop, give them a chance. We didn’t.”

But while it was encouraging to see the young linebacker hold the defense accountable, Roethlisberger disagreed with Dupree's notion by taking the blame for this loss.

“[The stat line] doesn't matter when you give them 14 more. That's on me,” Roethlisberger said. “I'll take full blame for those points and that loss. You can't put your defense in that situation.

Early on it looked as if Jacksonville was going to run away with the game after two takeaways from their defense in the first quarter. One of which came via strip-sack while the other was an interception from linebacker Myles Jack. The Jaguars offense was ultimately able to capitalize by scoring twice to give them a nice 14-point cushion to start the game.

Roethlisberger managed to get his own form of individual revenge by finishing with 469 yards and five touchdowns on the day. However, his costly turnovers early on proved to be too much for even the high-powered Steelers offense to overcome.
