The Pittsburgh Steelers will be a bit shorthanded on offense when they take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, running back James Conner will not play against the Colts and could miss next week's contest against the Los Angeles Rams.

Last week, the Steelers were able to overcome a 14-point deficit against the Miami Dolphins. But at the same time, Conner suffered a shoulder injury that he will sideline him for at least one week.

In seven games, Conner has rushed for 380 yards on 97 carries and has found the end zone four times on the ground. Along with his rushing numbers, the third-year running back has also tacked on 29 receptions for 236 yards and another two touchdowns.

Furthermore, Conner is coming off of his best game of the season where he gashed Miami's defense for 150 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 26 total touches. Nevertheless, it seems as if he won't be able to try and repeat that performance until Week 10 (at the earliest).

Along with Conner, Pittsburgh will also be without rookie Benny Snell in the backfield in Week 9. Snell sustained a knee injury in Week 8 and is expected to miss nearly a month of action.

Due to the Steelers' injuries in the backfield, Jaylen Samuels will get the nod as the starter on Sunday against the Colts. Samuels is returning from a knee injury that sidelined him for the past three weeks.

The Steelers also have Trey Edmunds and have activated Tony Brooks-James from their practice squad to provide depth behind Samuels.
