Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is out for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery, but he is not losing hope and instead keeping a positive mindset despite the setback.

In his heartfelt message to his fans, Smith-Schuster shared how “heartbroken” he is to be out for the season. However, he promised to do everything in his power to recover and return healthier and better than ever. Aside from his promise to fans, he also shared a photo of him smiling and doing a thumbs up after his surgery.

“Blessed to have had a successful surgery this morning. There’s no other way to say it, but I’m heartbroken that I’m going to be out for the rest of the season. It kills me to have worked hard all year to help our team on the field and now have my season cut short five weeks in. I’ll do everything in my power to recover and I’ll put in another full offseason of work next year to perform to the best of my abilities next season,” the Steelers wideout wrote.

“Thank you to the doctors and hospital staffs for taking care of me, and to the Steelers organization for supporting me during this tough time! Thank you everyone for the well wishes too. I really appreciate all of the love. Be back soon.”

JuJu Smith-Schuster suffered the shoulder injury during Sunday's Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos. It came after he took a hard hit from defensive back Kareem Jackson in the first half, leaving him in pain and needing help to walk off the field. He was eventually ruled out for the rest of the contest as the Steelers went away with a 27-19 win.

The Steelers later revealed that Smith-Schuster's injury was indeed serious and needed surgery. According to an earlier report by ESPN, the 24-year-old star is expected to miss at least four months due to the issue.

Smith-Schuster has been the Steelers' most reliable wide receiver, and his absence is certainly a huge blow to the team. As Ben Roethlisberger said it, it's just “unfair” that it has to happen.
