Mike Tomlin is entering his 12th year season as the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach and has received plenty of criticism during that time. Former Steelers star James Harrison was very critical of Tomlin saying he needs to be more disciplined. Tomlin brushed off the comments during his first training camp press conference calling the remarks “soap opera stuff.”

“He has an opinion. He's entitled to it,” said Tomlin from St. Vincent College via ESPN. “He doesn't play for us right now, man. I'm focused on 2018, man. That soap opera stuff, I'll let you guys play that game.”

Harrison will go down as one of the better Steelers of all time even though he forced himself out of town to the New England Patriots in 2017. He would leave games early and overslept meetings in hopes that the Steelers would let him go and he finally got his wish. Harrison seemed to enjoy his time with Bill Belichick and seemed to have nothing but praise for him.

“Mike Tomlin is good as a head coach,” Harrison said. “He's a players' coach. I think he needs to be a little bit more disciplined. The big thing with Belichick is he's very regimented, he's disciplined, everyone is going to be on the same page, there's not going to be anything as far as someone doing their own thing. I think over there [in New England] their whole coaching staff is like that.”

This is a critical year for the Steelers, and Ben Roethlisberger isn't getting any younger. The last thing they need is for a guy like James Harrison to cause issues for the franchise.
