The Pittsburgh Steelers are shaking up Mike Tomlin's coaching staff.

On Thursday morning, the team announced a slew of changes, which many saw coming after the team had a shaky ending to the 2020 NFL regular season and the disappointing loss to the Cleveland Browns in the AFC Wild Card Round. Offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner, offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett and defensive backs coach Tom Bradley will not have their contracts renewed.

“I want to thank all three of the coaches for their commitment and dedication to the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Tomlin said in a statement. “They have all played integral roles in our success and I am appreciative of their efforts. Personally, Randy and I have been in Pittsburgh since I hired him in 2007, but our relationship began well before that. He has been a friend of mine for years and wish his family nothing but the best, and I am eternally grateful for our relationship both on and off the field.”

All three coaches had served in their current roles since the 2018 season.

The Steelers ranked 22nd in offensive DVOA this season.

Tomlin hinted at forthcoming changes at his post-season press conference.

“Change is a part of our business,” Tomlin said. “I'll acknowledge the possibility for that. We are just beginning the process of having those types of meaty discussions that usually produce changes or non-changes. It is that time of year. I anticipate those discussions happening and happening rather soon as we plot a course to move forward.”

Pittsburgh won its first 11 games of the 2020 season, only to lose momentum down the stretch and fall at home to the Browns, 48-37, last week.
