The Pittsburgh Steelers' sights are set on Ben Roethlisberger as their starting quarterback for Week 11 against the Los Angeles Chargers. According to NFL reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala, “as long as Ben Roethlisberger is cleared before the Steelers take off Saturday, and is physically fit enough to play, he will start.”

This news comes after the Steelers struggled against the winless Detroit Lions on Sunday. A 16-16 tie felt like a loss at home for the Steelers against the previously 0-8 Lions.

The Steelers announced Saturday that Roethlisberger would not be taking the field Sunday against the Lions. Instead, he was put on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Big Ben did announce that he was vaccinated during an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” prior to testing positive. In order for Roethlisberger to start against Justin Herbert and the Chargers on Sunday night, a few things must happen.

First, he (like any other vaccinated player in the NFL) needs two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. Along with that, he must be asymptomatic.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told the media that the team will be working with Mason Rudolph and around his talents this week.

However, if Ben is ready to play and can travel to Los Angeles with the team on Saturday, Tomlin said “we'll definitely leave the light on for him.”
