Dez Bryant is trying to make an NFL comeback and Stephen A. Smith of First Take thinks that the Pittsburgh Steelers should be the team that picks up his services. Max Kellerman and Smith discussed what team would be the best landing spot for Bryant and while Kellerman thinks that the best team would be the Patriots, Smith thinks he needs to go to his favorite team.

Smith said via 247 Sports that he thinks that Bryant could fill the slot role for the Steelers and he would be a good veteran presence.

“I’ll roll with my Pittsburgh Steelers. Obviously not as a wide out, per say, but that guy in the slot, I wouldn’t mind seeing Dez Bryant in that particular situation.”

“If you look at the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jesse James is gone to the Detroit Lions. Obviously Vance McDonald is still there. JuJu Smith-Schuster is still there. You’ve got some other pieces there, don’t get me wrong. But an experienced receiver that can catch balls between the numbers, I don’t mind. I look at Dez Bryant as somebody that potentially can potentially play that role.”

Smith knows that Bryant doesn't have what it takes anymore to be a receiver outside, but inside he thinks he can still be a big pass-catching threat.

“He hasn’t really played football in the last couple of years. We get all that. So when I look at that from that perspective, I’m not expect (as much) from him. But if you’re talking about an intermediary target, catching the ball in between the numbers, not necessarily as a tight end but in a slot role, I think that is something Dez Bryant can do for an elite quarterback.”

It's unclear if the Steelers have any interest in signing Bryant, but Smith makes some intriguing arguments on why it would make a lot of sense.
