Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt is taking his abdominal injury “day-by-day” after suffering the injury against the Los Angeles Chargers in week six.

When asked about the injury, Watt said:

“I feel a lot better. Taking it day by day right now and see where I’ll be on Monday night.”

It is unclear whether Watt will be able to suit up against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.

This season, the Steelers defense is playing beyond expectations, especially after the acquisition of cornerback/safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who will play against his former team this week.

If Watt is unable to go this week, Ola Adenyi will make his first career NFL start. This comes after linebacker Anthony Chickillo was arrested following an incident with his girlfriend and placed on the Reserve/Commissioner Exempt List.

In 2019, Watt has tallied four sacks along with 11 solo tackles.

After going 0-3 to start the season, Pittsburgh is now 2-4 with quarterback Mason Rudolph coming back from a concussion. The team is third place in the AFC, behind the Baltimore Ravens (5-2) and Cleveland Browns (2-4).

After Monday night against the Dolphins, Pittsburgh will face a schedule that includes two matchups against the Browns, as well as the Cincinnati Bengals and Ravens.

Despite the injury to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh believes it can make a run to the playoffs, evident with the trade of Fitzpatrick.

With the Dolphins on the docket, the Steelers could rest Watt for the upcoming season and not face the ramifications. Miami is currently 0-6 with a -148 point differential.
