Ben Roethlisberger was ruled out in the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 10 game against the Detroit Lions due to COVID-19, but there were expectations he'd return soon since he's vaccinated.

However, according to latest reports, that might not be the case at all. FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer shared as much on Sunday, noting that it will be hard for the Steelers QB to produce two negative test results in a row in one week.

Vaccinated players can return to game action after 10 days or by producing two straight negative test results. Roethlisberger was put into the COVID-19 list on Saturday, which means it's impossible for him to clear the 10-day requirement in time for the Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

With that said, Big Ben needs to test negative to be allowed to play. As Glazer said, however, that is unlikely in a span of seven days.

“[Ben] is vaccinated. So he in order for him to comeback he needs two negative tests in a row. That normally doesn’t happen within 10 days. So I don’t see him coming back next week either,” Glazer explained on NFL on FOX (via Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan).

That is certainly a discouraging update for Steelers fans, especially after the team's brutal showing against the Lions on Sunday. The game ended in a 16-16 tie after overtime, as both teams struggled offensively all day long.

While Roethlisberger is already a shell of his old self, he still remains the Steelers' best option at quarterback. Given his condition, though, Mike Tomlin might need to push his players to step up further to fill the void he has left.
