Hopefully, he recovers soon! Stephen Colbert won't be doing his Late Show for one week due to a ruptured appendix.

The host went in for surgery for the health scare, Variety reports. It was announced Monday on Late Show's Threads page.

Stephen Colbert and his ruptured appendix

“Sorry to say that I have to cancel our shows this week,” it reads. “I'm sure you're thinking, ‘Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?' Actually, I'm recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix. I'm grateful to my doctors for their care and to Evie and the kids for putting up with me. Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas.”

As for the guests, he had quite the lineup this week.

Tuesday's show was to have Jennifer Garner and Baz Luhrmann. Additionally, John Batiste would perform on Wednesday, with Patrick Stewart as a guest. Thursday was to feature Barbra Streisand and Kelsey Grammer.

The Late Show host had COVID last month and had to host one show from his home, and then had the rest of the week canceled. Before that, the show had the WGA strike to contend with, which put the show on a hiatus.

According to Healthline, a ruptured appendix is an untreated appendicitis. It's the inflammation of the appendix. When it bursts, bacteria get released into your abdomen, which can lead to a serious infection.

Hopefully, Stephen Colbert fully recovers soon and can get back to his Late Show gig without any more health issues.
