Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker plans to be very involved with the franchise this summer.
The Suns are going to finish with one of the worst records in the NBA again this season. Booker, the best player on the team, wants to help the organization improve the roster anyway he can.
“It’s probably the summer I’ll be most involved in my career,” Booker told Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic. “When I signed my deal, I think it was an understanding, through the franchise and myself, that moving forward, we both have the same goals at hand and that’s to get better.”
“It’s not a one-sided thing. It’s not whatever I view, whatever they view. I think it’s a collective agreement. Moving forward, throwing in any advice I can, stay in the loop and watch what’s going on and know what’s going on.”
Devin Booker signed a five-year, $158 million contract extension with the Suns last summer. It kicks in next season.
Booker is one of the most gifted scorers in the league. Unfortunately, he doesn't have that much help with him in Phoenix.
In 61 games this season for the Suns, Booker is averaging 26.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.7 assists. The 22-year-old is shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from beyond the arc and 86.3 percent from the free-throw line.
