The Phoenix Suns entered the 2021-2022 NBA season with arguably the highest expectations they have had in almost 30 years. Last season, the Suns shocked the NBA world, making a run all the way to the NBA Finals. They would eventually succumb to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games.

Suns superstar guard Devin Booker opened up about what is the key difference between this year's team and last.

Booker, speaking to the media Thursday, spoke to some of those growing pains.

ā€œWe all trust each other. We had a lot of learning curves last year, but having that time and that experience together, I know put us in a situation where we never hit the panic buttonā€¦ We stick to what we do and perform well down the stretchā€

Thursday night, the Suns beat the Dallas Mavericks 109-101. With the win, Phoenix improved to 35-9 and a full three games ahead of the Golden State Warriors for the top spot in the west. The win was particularly impressive as the Mavs had won eight of their previous nine games.

Booker tied Mavs superstar Luke Doncic as the game's high scorer with 28 points. Suns future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul chipped in with 20 points and 11 assists in the win. Both players were needed to carry more of the load as starting center Deandre Ayton missed the game with a sprained ankle.

To this point, the message has been made clear that last season was no fluke. The Suns are legit title contenders, if not the favorites.
