Losses have become a consistent theme for the Phoenix Suns over the last several years, and that has not changed this season. They currently have the most losses in the NBA this season with 24, compared to just six wins.
Still, first-year head coach Igor Kokoskov said that Phoenix doesn't play to lose:
Losing so many games can discourage players and demotivate to play their hardest and compete. Nonetheless, Kokoskov has to keep their heads up to make them compete every night, even if their best efforts rarely result in a win. The wins will eventually come as they start to get it together. But until then, they will just have to stay the course and deal with the growing pains.
The Serbian coach's comments came after the Suns finally won two straight consecutive games this season. This marks Kokoskov's first win streak in the NBA.
Phoenix was finally able to string two good games together by defeating the Dallas Mavericks (99-89) and Minnesota Timberwolves (107-99) in consecutive outings at home.
Suns budding star Devin Booker made his return to the court in their game against Minnesota, and he led the team with 28 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. The four-year guard has struggled to stay on the court consistently due to some nagging injuries. While this may have contributed to the Suns' losing woes, the team is, in fact, still very young and learning to get acclimated with each other and with their new coach.
