Team USA lost Bradley Beal and Kevin Love within the span of two days and instantly searched for replacements. There was talk of Julius Randle taking the spot, and possibly Trae Young. However, it turns out other replacements have been named for the Tokyo Olympics, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

What a shocking surprise.

Yes, JaVale McGee and Keldon Johnson are the replacements, to the surprise of just about the entire world. McGee is a serviceable big man but was hardly seen by anybody as a possible Team USA replacement. Knicks All-Star Julius Randle seemed like the easy choice.

On the other hand, Johnson was on the Team USA Select Team and had been performing well.

Still, both of these guys are a surprise, and they need to find a way to jell quickly with Team USA's next exhibition game scheduled for Sunday before departing for Tokyo.

The Olympics begin on July 23, and after Team USA dropped their first two exhibition games in Las Vegas, questions swirled regarding if this group could take home the gold medal. With the loss of Beal and Love, and adding two more players while still waiting for three players from the NBA Finals to join, it might make the job of Gregg Popovich that much more difficult if they wants to walk away with the gold.
