Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka may have won over Jennifer Brady in the women's singles division of the Australian Open but her celebration didn't end without an awkward blunder during the awarding ceremony.  When asked by Osaka, Brady said that she would like to be referred to as ‘Jenny', only to be called ‘Jennifer' in the actual speech.

The 23-year-old then took to Twitter to apologize for her error and claimed that she thought she addressed Brady correctly.

Despite the gaffe, Osaka still managed to show the world that she is one of the best young tennis players today. She continued her dominance on the international stage after toppling a handful of ranked opponents all throughout the Australian Open. Perhaps the biggest name that she matched up against was tennis icon Serena Williams during the tournament's semi-final round.

Despite facing a more experienced player, Osaka overcame the odds and still defeated Williams in a straight-set victory by way of a 6-3, 6-4 win. After the commanding triumph, Osaka eventually advanced to the Finals where she crossed paths with the No.22 ranked player in Brady.

Once again, Osaka managed to overcome a slow start in the match and imposed her will on her American counterpart en route to a 6-4, 6-3 victory. She reclaimed the throne in the Australian Open for the first time since 2019 and snagged the fourth Grand Slam title of her young playing career.

After her impressive showing in the tournament, there is no doubt that the Japanese star is going to attain even more success in the years to come. The blunder may stick around with Naomi Osaka for a while but at least she still got the win and took home the bacon.
