NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton didn't mince words when he described Dennis Rodman's undeniable impact on the Chicago Bulls' second three-peat run from 1996-98.

Payton dropped arguably the most memorable quote of Episode 3 of ESPN's “The Last Dance” documentary which aired on Sunday. The nine-time NBA All-Star had this to say regarding what Rodman brought to Chicago.

Dennis Rodman, of course, barely scored in double-figures throughout his 14 seasons in the NBA. But the undersized big brought an unrivaled heart and passion to the game of basketball, which helped catapult the Bulls back to the top of the food chain upon his arrival in 1995.

“The Worm” was a fearsome defender who can cover multiple positions. He also gobbled every rebound possible, notching a career average of 13.1 boards per contest.

Gary Payton, meanwhile, certainly knows a thing or two about how a great defensive player impacts the game. He is one of only three guards to win Defensive Player of the Year (alongside Sidney Moncrief and Michael Jordan). Rodman was also named DPOY twice in his career in 1990 and 1991.

Payton also witnessed firsthand how disruptive Rodman could be on the other end of the floor. The Seattle SuperSonics reached the Finals in 1996 and took on Rodman and company that year. The Sonics were bannered by Payton and his second-in-command Shawn Kemp at the time.

The 6-foot-10 athletic freak averaged 20.9 points and 10.4 rebounds in the postseason. However, Kemp had a hard time putting up his usual numbers against Rodman's defense, as Seattle lost the series in six games.
